Rockhampton Zoo is home to variety of snakes, lizards, monitors, crocodiles, turtles and frogs.

At Rockhampton Zoo, you have the opportunity to see:

  • Boyd's forest dragon (Hypsilurus boydii)
  • White-lipped tree frog (Litoria infrafrenata)
  • Boa constrictor (Boa constrictor)
  • Lace monitor (Varanus varius)
  • Perentie (Varanus giganteus)

Check out the Boyd's forest dragons and White-lipped tree frogs in the Daintree enclosure, which is up the boardwalk towards the Cassowaries.

Next, you will spot Lucy, our Lace monitor, who is often sunbathing on her rock.

After this, see if you can find our red-tailed boas, Penny and Solitaire. They are well-camouflaged amongst the greenery of their enclosure, so they can be very hard to spot!

Next door to Penny and Solitaire is Squirtle, one of our two Krefft's river turtles. Squirtle is often basking on her log or hunting for food in her pond.

Then head down towards our Freshwater and Saltwater Crocodiles, Hahn and the Colonel, and then make your final stop with Eric and Floki, our Perentines.

Snakes at Rockhampton Zoo include:

  • Coastal carpet python (Morelia spilota mcdowelli)
  • Olive python (Liasis olivaceus)
  • Spotted python (Antaresia maculosa)
  • Stimson's python (Antaresia stimsoni)
  • Water python (Liasis fuscus)
  • Woma python (Aspidites ramsayi)
