Under 5's Activities

A FREE fun morning out with the little ones. Each time celebrating a day of significance for one of our animals or an international day of celebration for a species.

Join in the fun, with craft activities such as mask making, colouring and enrichment making (fun presents for the animals) all animal themed! Bring a blanket, or even a picnic!

Zoo Story Time 

Come along to a Story Time in the tranquil setting of the Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Run by the Rockhampton Regional Library these FREE mornings are made up of music, dancing and of course interactive book readings.

Darumbal Storytime! - Attend a very special Darumbal Storytime at Rockhampton Zoo. Learn Darumbal language in this energetic story time session aimed at children up to 6 years. Book tickets here.

Junior Zookeepers 

Have you ever wanted to see what its like to be a Zookeeper? The Junior Zookeeper Experience is the way to step into the shoes of a zookeeper for a day!

Held during Queensland School Holidays for ages 8 – 12,  (public holidays excluded), the Junior Zookeeper Experience takes you to parts of the zoo usually only inhabited by Zoo staff and our wonderful animals.

You will get the chance to make enrichment items, feed selected animals, help clean our enclosures, or maybe even hold a reptile, all while asking your Zookeeper Guide lots of questions.
